Educators are experts in their areas, but not necessarily experts in education. So, Dr. Norris has shared a seven step plan to focus on how to give your learners what they need in order to learn your subject. She again credits Dr. Vella for this plan of attack. The first four steps seem very basic: who, why, when and where.
Who - This focuses on knowing WHO your participants are and how many there are. Included in the who are any facilitators.
Why - In this step you need to ask yourself what your learners need and want.
When - This is When the program will take place in addition to the amount of time you have to complete it and if it is part of a series.
Where - What is the design of your training location and what can you do to modify it?
It is important that when designing a course and completing these first four steps the entire planning committee is in agreement on these four aspects.
In Chapter ten we will complete the final three steps of the process. Stay tuned.
