On My Way

Well, I'm on my way.  I've just set up my blog and received my book in the mail.  I intend to read and report on From Telling to Teaching by Joyce A. Norris.  It is a book that I had added to my "to read one day list" after Dr. Kaiser mentioned it in an earlier class.  When researching the book one amazon review described it as a must have full of effective teaching techniques.  I figured this could be very beneficial to someone like myself with almost no experience.  But, I have to admit now that I've received it, I'm a little concerned how much can be packed into only 120 pages.  The book is depicted as being valuable to those who want to hear less of themselves as educators and more from their learners.  If I had a class of my own, this is how I would like to facilitate it.  So, I'm hopping to pick up some valuable tips on how to "pop in" when needed to steer my learners in the right direction and facilitate critical thinking, while not dominating the conversation or giving "answers" that could be discovered on their own.  Well, here goes, I'm excited to get started on the reading!
